"Why," you ask? Because we want profile pages to have freedom of customization, but also to have some consistency. This way, when anyone visits a deviant, they know they can always find the art in the top left, and personal info in the top right.
Don't forget, restraints can bring out the creativity in you!

oh yes, and try browsing Other -> Resources | Tutorials -> Gimp on deviantart too, there's loads of downloadable pdf's etc that are really handy, there is also loads on the Gimp website too.

Hi...Generally using the magic wand tool would help you in such selections. If you need a hand with anything just give me a shout! Are you using GIMP for linux or windows?

gimp and the wand is being difficult. Looking at the tutorial and still confused. Not sure what to do and my prohjects are at a halt until I figure out how to cut out one image out of a photograph to use. Thank you for all of your help.
have you tried any other tutorials? or the help manuals on the gimp homepage? you could also try googling "gimp majic wand tool" hope that helps, some tutorials can be confusing at first so its best to try out as many as you can, so u can get the feel of the program...also u can learn more about mistakes ur makin etc tutorials rawk...theres a handy one in my fav section if u have a look

thank you sooo much. I have only been using gimp for two days lol. Without your help I would not be able to do the pieces I have done already. I will improve with practice. Thank you very much for your patience and tutalege.
